The Vitality City Program - What is it, and how does it affect me?. Francey Marzicola, our speaker, will lead a discussion on the new Vitality City Program sponsored by the Beach Cities Health District.

In previous meetings, we've learned about the LWVC's positions on Natural Resources and the LWVUS position on climate change. At this meeting, we'll learn about steps that several of our Beach Cities are taking to reduce rates of obesity and hypertension, not only improving health but lowering our carbon footprint as well. For example, some neighborhoods have formed `walking school buses.' Other neighborhoods are forming walking groups, such as the Walking Moai, where participants get together regularly and motivate each other to walk. And a new South Bay Bicycle Master Plan has been approved by four of our beach cities.

All are welcome to join this event and learn how you can improve your own health, your community's health, save energy, and reduce your carbon footprint!
